Pensacola, FL – W. Scott Bew, M.D., CAQSM, has joined the Medical Staff of West Florida Hospital and will practice at West Florida Medical Group’s location at 1190 E. Nine Mile Road in Pensacola. He is board certified in Family Medicine with additional qualification in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Bew earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. His postdoctoral training included a Family Medicine Residency at the Pensacola Family Medicine Residency Program, Naval Hospital, Pensacola. Following his residency training, Dr. Bew completed a Fellowship in Faculty Development at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by an additional Fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at the Naval Hospital, Camp Pendleton, California.
Dr. Bew is retired from the U.S. Navy after 25 years of service. In addition to Naval Hospital Pensacola, Dr. Bew practiced family and sports medicine at various military installations in the United States and abroad, including Iceland, California, North Carolina, Iraq, Rhode Island and Kuwait. He has also held various administrative and leadership positions during his military career. Prior to joining West Florida Medical Group, Dr. Bew served as Director for Health Services at Naval Health Clinics in New England.
He also has extensive teaching experience the areas of family medicine, sports medicine and exercise-related medical conditions. A Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Bew is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Uniformed Services Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Bew has participated as a player, coach and manager for a wide variety of community and military rugby teams for many years. He has also served as Team Physician for military rugby, boxing and soccer teams and is an expert in Karate.
