Free Stroke Screenings and “Stroke Awareness Day”

Pensacola, FL – In recognition of National Stroke Awareness Month, West Florida Hospital is offering free stroke screenings and a “Stroke Awareness Day” session, which will include results from lab tests and valuable information provided by stroke experts.
The free lab work is available by appointment only from 8:00 - 11:00 a.m. on the 7th floor of the hospital’s Ancillary Building on April 18, 19 & 20 (Wednesday - Friday). The lab work includes a lipid profile (cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides), blood glucose, and hemoglobin A1c for individuals with diabetes. Participants must fast after midnight. Labs are limited, so registration is required.
Participants will return on Monday, April 30 for “Stroke Awareness Day” scheduled for 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. in the Education Department of West Florida Hospital, 7th Floor Ancillary Building, 8383 North Davis Highway, Pensacola. “Stroke Awareness Day” will include:
- Results of lab work;
- Blood pressure;
- Body Mass Index;
- Personal Stroke Risk Assessment;
- Life-saving information presented by Stroke Program Specialist Marlene Besnoff, RN followed by a Question & Answer session led by Neurologist Lori Stuart, D.O.
The lab work and the “Stroke Awareness Day” program on Monday, April 30 are free, however registration is required. To register, call 494-3212.
