Local Urologist to Offer Free Seminar about Prostate Cancer

Pensacola, FL – West Florida Hospital will offer a free community seminar entitled “Prostate Screening & Treatment: Know Your Options” on Thursday, July 26 from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. in the hospital’s 7th Floor Auditorium, 8383 N. Davis Highway, Pensacola. The session will be presented by local urologist Brett Parra, M.D., Woodlands Medical Specialists.
American Cancer Society (ACS) statistics indicate that, with the exception of skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in American males, affecting about 1 in 6 men. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men, behind only lung cancer. About 1 man in 36 will die of prostate cancer.
At the seminar, Dr. Parra will discuss risk factors for prostate cancer, how it is diagnosed, treatment options, and the pros and cons of PSA testing.
