Surgical Options for Acid Reflux Disease
June 19, 2013
Pensacola, FL – On Tuesday, June 25, West Florida Healthcare will offer a free seminar entitled “Surgical Options for Acid Reflux Disease.” The seminar will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the 7th Floor Auditorium at West Florida Hospital, 8383 N. Davis Highway, Pensacola. The speaker will be David Tenniswood, M.D., General Surgeon with West Florida Medical Group.
Millions of Americans suffer every day from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). GERD can occur when a muscle at the end of the esophagus does not close properly, allowing stomach acid to leak back, or reflux, into the esophagus and irritate it.
At the seminar, Dr. Tenniswood will discuss various surgical treatment options for GERD, including the NIssen Fundoplication procedure and TIF procedure. The benefits of both surgical procedures include: rapid recovery, reduction/elimination of the need for medications (and the possible side effects associated with their long-term use), and improvement in quality of life.
The seminar is free and open to the public. To register, call (850) 494-3212.
