One day at work, my heart began beating out of control, so I went to West Florida Hospital where I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. After more tests, they discovered that I also had a defective aortic valve.
Dr. Bryce Turnage, cardiovascular surgeon at West Florida Hospital, replaced the faulty valve with a mechanical one.
My valve surgery and recovery went great and my a-fib is being monitored by my cardiologist, Dr. Farhat Mehmood.
Today, I am happy to report that I am 20 pounds lighter, my blood pressure is back to normal, and I have more energy and am able to exercise again. Best of all, i am no longer afraid of doing something that may put me into A-fib because now I know how to manage it.
Dr. Turnage, Dr. Mehmood, and the cardiac nurses at West Florida Hospital truly gave me my life back. They are the best!
